At 3 hours drive from Paris and easily accessible by Thalys less than 1h30 in this case, a weekend in Brussels is the ideal European city to escape with friends or lovers. Here is a new article from my travel section that I hope will give you ideas for your next weekend.

We stayed at the MOTEL ONE hotel in the city center, our room was very comfortable and clean. The hotel has a bar in a very modern lobby where you can have a drink in the evening in a warm atmosphere especially the night of fatigue because you have a lot of walking during the day and you do not want to put the nose outside. It is very practical and pleasant. The staff are also very friendly, they took the time to provide us with a map of the city and tell us the main monuments and places to visit! As the hotel is in the center we almost did everything on foot except for the visit to the Atomium which is outside the city.

On the program, visit the comic strip museum in the old building that housed the Waucquez department stores, walk along the main square to enjoy a waffle before going to see the mannekepis. We walked in the streets around the main square: lots of people and entertainment, waffle makers, chocolatiers, chip shops on every street corner, as well as many bars and pubs to enjoy the national drink: beer! In short the atmosphere is warm and it’s nice 🙂

  • Greedy addresses:

NEUHAUS workshop located in the gallery of queens at number 29, you will taste chocolates mousse (even white chocolate) with chips of rasberry or hazelnut.

Au Merveilleux de Fred: hot buns await you just as the famous marvelous – Rue du Marché aux herbes7, 1000 Brussels

Waffles: there are food trucks and waffle irons everywhere they are all worth!

Friterie Tabora rue de tabora 2, 1000 Brussels one of the chip shops where you have to wait in line, which shows that french fries are good …

If you like flea markets and antique shops do not forget the Sablon district, you will find your happiness. On the way, many thrift stores for lovers 🙂 Prices are still rather high but I still cracked on a small pair of sneakers!

For restaurants, we thought naively that they will be cheaper than in Paris but it is not the case! Prices are almost the same as here.

  • Restaurant addresses: I recommend two restaurants to eat the Belgian specialties:

9 & neighbors, rue Van Artevelde 1, 1000 Brussels is a kind of Belgian canteen (be careful queuing)

Le Forestier, rue Haute 2, 1000 Brussels

Finally, we ended our weekend by visiting the European district.

I wish you a happy stay!
